"The Writers Studio is a wonderful and necessary place--it offers both aspiring and accomplished writers a community and a place to try out new material, to explore and push the limits and their abilities to the fullest"--A.M.Homes, author of 'Things You Should Know' and 'In a Country of Mothers.'
Now in its 20th year, The Writers Studio welcomes beginning and advanced students to a unique workshop environment whose sole purpose is to help fiction writers and poets discover and nurture their own voices.
Teachers, who have been trained for a minimum of three years, create exercises for each level. Elements of craft, such as mood, tone and dialogue, are taught through literary examples.
~ Fiction and Poetry Workshops meet one in NYC one evening a week for two hours.
~ Online Fiction and Poetry workshops are offered for beginning and advanced writers.
~Craft Class teaches students to read as writers. Students read fiction or poetry each week; teacher analyzes techniques used to make it effective. Class available by audio cassette, which can be sent anywhere. View the reading list: www.writerstudio.com.
~One -on-one tutorials in fiction and poetry are available on an ongoing basis via email, fax, or in person. They offer an intensive concentration on a work in progress, or a jump-start for a new writer.
