center h3 Aegean Arts Circle Welcomes You to its 2012 Fiction Creative Non-fiction Writing Workshops on the Cycladic Island of Andros. h3 b font color 990000 Celebrate our TEN YEAR anniversary in Andros with Pulitzer Prize Winner ROBERT OLEN BUTLER July 6-13, 2012 font b center The workshop will focus on the fundamentals of the creative process for fiction writers, beginning to advanced, who aspire to create enduring literature. We will address such issues as what is art what is distinctive about the way the artist addresses the world, the inner self, and the objects to be created and what are the essential characteristics of fiction as an art form. Each student will read my book of lectures on the creative process, i From Where You Dream i , before arrival. The first session will be devoted to discussion of that book s aesthetic principles and their implications. For each of the remaining sessions students will write a new short story, which will be read and examined in class. The goal is to lead students into the depths of their artistic unconscious and illuminate the intrinsic nature of narrative. b Robert Olen Butler b has published twelve novels including i A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain i , winner of the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and six volumes of short fiction. b Andros Island b This quiet, unspoiled island, a two-hour ferry ride from Athens, provides an inspiring setting of beautiful beaches, archaeological and historical sites, olive tree plantations, breathtaking gorges, and crystal clear springs. b center For more information contact a href mailto info aegeanartscircle.com info aegeanartscircle.com a or a href mailto amalia aegeanartscircle.com amalia aegeanartscircle.com a or visit a href http writing.shawguides.com aegeanartscircle website www.AegeanArtsCircle.com a .
