The Wake Up and Write Writer’s Retreat Workshop is an offshoot of the original Writers Retreat Workshop, co-founded by Gary and Gail Provost in the 1980’s. As one of the beneficiaries of Gary’s brilliant, funny, and generous teaching, as well as Gail’s insightful enthusiasm and support, I wanted to share with others what they shared with me. I was also fortunate to learn writing practice from Natalie Goldberg, and the experience of writing as a Zen practice brought an added dimension to my own work that I believe will also inform the work of other writers.

This October we have the great pleasure of offering students the opportunity to study with the author of STORY GENIUS and WIRED FOR STORY, Lisa Cron. Lisa's approach to finding and working with the heart of your story will turn you and your story world upside down and inside out, and you will come away with a greater understanding of your own work.

We will dig deeply into the heart and soul of your work in progress while ensconced in an old Main Line mansion outside Philadelphia, where you will enjoy the peaceful retreat atmosphere of St. Raphaela Center. Find inspiration in the natural surroundings of the center and bask in the comfort provided by the rocking chair in your room.

We hope that every writer who attends the workshop will be challenged, inspired, encouraged, and surprised.

It's about dreams...
It's about drive...
It's about time.

Carol Dougherty (Doc), Director and Instructor
