Yale Writers’ Conference

June 6-16, 2015 and June 18-21, 2015 • New Haven, Connecticut

The Yale Writers' Conference is an intensive program intended for committed writers at all levels of experience. Faculty are authors of national and international standing, including Amy Bloom, Colm Toibin, Cheryl Strayed, Gish Jen, Richard Selzer, Julia Glass, John Crowley, Eileen Pollack, Teddy Wayne, Colleen Kinder, and more. Facilities are Yale University's campus.

Workshops consist of no more than twelve writers led by a well-known author. Their primary purpose is discussion of student writing with multiple pieces covered each day and every participant reviewed by the end of the program.

Individual manuscript consultations: Each student is guaranteed an hour-long one-on-one meeting with his/her workshop leader, who will offer specific criticism of a work in progress and general advice.

Resident and visiting faculty offer afternoon discussions on a range of topics, technical and otherwise.

Every writer has an opportunity to take part in a master class led by a member of the visiting faculty.

Students have the opportunity to read their work to the entire group during a series of afternoon readings. Faculty will also read from and discuss their work.

The program concludes with a full day of panel discussions and meetings with agents, editors, and publishers.

Program Focus includes: Fiction, Novel, Memoir, Creative Non-fiction, Poetry, Playwriting, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Screenwriting, Young Adult, and Historical Fiction.
