June 10-19, 2013 and June 21-23, 2013 • New Haven, Connecticut
The Yale Writers' Conference is an intensive nine-day program intended for committed writers at all levels of experience. Faculty are authors of national and international standing, including Tom Perrotta, Susan Orlean, Richard Selzer, Kevin Wilson, and ZZ Packer. Facilities are Yale University's campus.
Workshops consist of no more than twelve writers led by a well-known author. Their primary purpose is discussion of student writing with multiple pieces covered each day and every participant reviewed by the end of the program.
Individual manuscript consultations: Each student is guaranteed an hour-long one-on-one meeting with his/her workshop leader, who will offer specific criticism of a work in progress and general advice.
Resident and visiting faculty offer afternoon discussions on a range of topics, technical and otherwise.
Every writer has an opportunity to take part in a master class led by a member of the visiting faculty.
Students have the opportunity to read their work to the entire group during a series of afternoon readings. Faculty will also read from and discuss their work.
The program concludes with a full day of panel discussions and meetings with agents, editors, and publishers.
This year Yale will also introduce new 3 Day Genre-Specific Workshops from June 21-23, 2013. Each workshop will accept 12 students and will be led by a regular faculty member.
