The Lost Art of Personal Writing

Seagull Bay, Bayfield, Wisconsin, May 30

The Art Colony, Grand Marais, Minnesota, August 15 - 16

What role does writing play in your life? What role would you like it to play? This workshop is designed to spark creativity and motivate the writer in you. You will examine various genres, including journaling, memoir, poetry, and fiction, as well as the truly lost art of letter writing. In a small community of writers, you will be encouraged to explore and expand your unique voice, style, and purpose using your personal writing as the foundation. Writing is an important art form that is easily accessible. All you need is a journal, your favorite pen and — your imagination.

Peter Blau works in a variety of venues, including the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis and Mayo Clinic's Creative Renewal Program. His goal is to provide a safe, confidential environment allowing participants to move through their own personal growth and writing journey. The small workshop size allows him time to give participants personal support and encouragement. Peter focuses on the writing process as a pathway to creativity, imagination and self-discovery, and particularly enjoys watching people realize that they can write.

Seagull Bay is a lakeside motel where you can find rest and relaxation when your writing day is over and the Grand Marais Art Colony provides the perfect space for writing and reflection. Both are located on the shores of Lake Superior.

The beauty of the lake and the serenity of these small villages are ideal for imagining and writing.
