Aspen Summer Words Writing Retreat & Literary Festival
ASPEN SUMMER WORDS Writing Retreat & Literary Festival
A five-day celebration of words, stories and ideas June 22 to 26, 2008 • Aspen, Colorado
THREE DECADES OF LITERARY EXCELLENCE The Aspen Writers' Foundation, Colorado's oldest nonprofit literary organization, presents the 32nd annual Aspen Summer Words, a pioneering writing retreat featuring hands-on instruction with some of today's most celebrated authors and educators. What sets this writers' conference apart is simple: we help writers develop their craft by providing a winning combination of inspiration, knowledge and opportunity. And we offer up this triple whammy in the world-class small town of Aspen - a backdrop that has all the beauty of a national park and, during Aspen Summer Words, all the charm of your favorite bookstore.
CREATING A LITERARY COMMUNITY Suddenly, your world as a writer - and we know that world can be a pretty lonely place - will become a whole lot more friendly. Aspen Summer Words is a community that supports and engages writers. You will be among aspiring and established authors who share a kinship for the written word, and who happen to know you by name. With the retreat's welcoming staff, intimate workshops, convivial gatherings and direct access to authors, it's easy to imagine yourself among them. In fact, we like to think we are in the business of getting you a little closer to your dream.
"The opportunity to spend a week with some of my favorite writers was akin to my children's experiences in Disney World." - Audrey V.
"The quality of the organization, the staff and the speakers are head and shoulders above any others I've attended." - Carol M.
