Join us on America’s most fertile literary ground.
Sunday, July 27–Friday, August 1, 2008
Come to Cambridge, Massachusetts, where writers such as Robert Frost, Louise Glück, Henry James, Lois Lowry, Derek Walcott, Susanna Kaysen, Robert Pinsky, and countless others have found the inspiration and conversation critical to successful writing. Lesley’s conference will provide rich stimulation for anyone interested in fiction, nonfiction, children’s book writing, or poetry.
One week packed with new techniques, ideas, and attention to your writing. Enjoy rigorous workshops, guest speakers, faculty readings, craft lectures, a publishing panel, book signings, and receptions all of which will offer extraordinary opportunities to receive feedback on your work from established writers, share ideas, make connections, and take your writing to the next level.
Attention to detail matters in writing and in planning a conference. The conference will be held on Lesley University’s main campus, which is located within walking distance of Harvard Square. Students may elect to live on campus or commute. Arriving Sunday afternoon for a reception, participants will have an opportunity to interact with faculty during dinner, and attend an evening reading. Workshops will be held each weekday morning, and to ensure robust dialogue and individual attention, will include no more than 10 participants. Afternoons will be devoted to individual conferences with faculty, guest speakers, and craft lectures. Guest, faculty, and student readings will occur in the evenings. The conference ends early afternoon, Friday.
2008: Fiction writer Laurie Foos; fiction and nonfiction writer Leah Hager Cohen; nonfiction writer Katherine Russell Rich; poet Steven Cramer; children's writer David Elliott. Guest faculty: Sue Miller, Frank Bidart, and Lois Lowry.
